Rosa arrived at Catty Shack Ranch on February 20, 2022. She was 12 years old when she arrived, having been born on October 12, 2009. She came to us from a refuge in south Florida.
During her quarantine, the Director and the Animal Health Coordinator got to know Rosa. They quickly learned that she is a sweet girl who likes to say hello and rub against the fence when they come by. Out in her habitat she still responds when any of her favorite humans come to say hello.
Rosa and Abu live next to each other and can get to know each other with the safety of a fence between them. Abu had been alone in his habitat since December 2020. As we did when Abu arrived, we split the habitat into two separate enclosures. If all goes well, it is possible we could introduce the two of them at some point in the future. That, of course, will take time and depends on a number of factors.
Rosa looks very happy in her new home and can be seen relaxing in the grass or in the shade under her elevated den box. She enjoys regular enrichment activities and was introduced to a lion favorite at Catty Shack Ranch – catnip in a box. Rosa proved that she enjoys catnip as much as the next lion.
We are grateful to be able to provide a safe, loving forever home to Rosa and all our animals. Rosa enjoys a healthy diet of raw meat, portions appropriate to her age, size, and nutritional needs. All our animals receive regular veterinary care and are very much loved.
