ROCKY

Rocky arrived at Catty Shack Ranch, along with 3 other tigers and Piper the fox on December 13, 2017. The animals had resided at a private facility in South Florida which had sustained damage during Hurricane Irma. We were asked to give a forever home to the 4 big cats to alleviate some of the financial burden of storm damage repairs.

Rocky lives with his sister Adrian and their best friend Haley. When we’ve taken in groups of animals, we’ve given them a group name. These buddies quickly became our “Three Amigos.” The Three Amigos love their new home at the Ranch. They run and chase around the habitat, fly through the den box, splash in their pool and enjoy playing in the water (or any mud they create). To rest and rekindle their energy, they nap in or under their den box and then the fun begins again.

We are always grateful to provide a safe loving forever home to all of our residents. During the year 2017 and at the beginning of 2018, we lost 8 of our older beloved residents to various natural causes. With a life expectance of 20 to 25 years, many of our animals are in their mid and upper teen years, facing health issues associated with “old age.” Our youngest tigers had turned 5 years old when Rocky and his friends arrived. It gives us great joy to have youngsters at the Ranch again! We know we’ll be able to watch them mature and enjoy a long happy life with us.

As the male in the enclosure, Rocky is the largest of the trio. He also has crossed eyes. He is more laid back than the girls, always part of the fun and excitement but not the instigator. He leaves that role to Haley. Being youngsters, the Three Amigos take special delight in hiding from, stalking and pouncing at visitors along their fence line. All three huddle unseen in the corner and spring into action when a tour group approaches. Rocky is right there in the midst of the fun!

Rocky enjoys a healthy diet of raw meat, portions appropriate to his age, size and nutritional needs. All our animals receive regular veterinary care and are very much loved.
