DOZER

Dozer arrived at Catty Shack Ranch, along with 3 other tigers and Piper the fox on December 13, 2017. The animals had resided at a private facility in South Florida which had sustained damage during Hurricane Irma. We were asked to give a forever home to the 4 big cats to alleviate some of the financial burden of storm damage repairs.

When you meet Dozer, you fully understand his name. He is a BIG handsome tiger! He is the 1st resident you encounter at the Ranch and the sight of a huge tiger bounding over to his fence line to greet you can leave you breathless. Dozer was born on September 11, 2013, and won’t reach his full mature size until he is about 5 years old. He threatens to take the title of “Largest Cat” away from Nero, Monterey, and Colby.

As big as he is, Dozer plays some cute games. He crouches behind his feeding platform, watching visitors enter the Ranch, preparing to stalk them. Or he may be lying on top of his den box, peeking out from behind the narrow support beam. Maybe he thinks he can’t be seen, a big vividly marked orange and black tiger becoming invisible! He happily trots along his fence line, talking and chuffing to the volunteers.

When an animal joins us, we keep their name. They know their name and respond to it. With Dozer, this is very evident. As he’s become familiar with his regular volunteers, we just need to call him and he turns to give us his full undivided attention. There is nothing like having a big tiger looking straight at you!

We are grateful to be able to give Dozer a loving permanent home. It will be fun to watch as he reveals more of his cheerful personality with time. He’s made himself at home at the Ranch.

Dozer enjoys a healthy diet of raw meat, portions appropriate to his age, size and nutritional needs. All our animals receive regular veterinary care and are very much loved.
